Sheffield World Week!

Dear members.
We are please to announce that the Society is participating in this year World Week! A series of events are taking place on the following days and we wanted to invite you!
· We start this Saturday 5th at 12 (noon) with the WORLD WEEK PARADE where our society will be represented by some of you! Join us and other societies in a parade that celebrates the national and cultural diversity in Sheffield.

The parade starts at the Students’ Union concourse ending at the Peace Gardens where ‘Son de America’, the folklore-dancing group, will be performing!

The parade will go through Portobello St turning to Mappin St, heading to Division St. It will pass in front of the City Hall finishing at the Peace Gardens.

For more information about the parade go to www.facebook.com/worldweek2011

Our next event is on Monday 7th when the Society will kick off the International Film Festival. Two films will be shown, starting at 7pm (Gallery Room 2) with Como agua para Chocolate (‘Like Water for Chocolate’) followed at 9pm with La Zona.

This event is free and some nibbles will be provided!

Como agua para Chocolate is a love story combining cuisine and 20th Century Mexican culture. La Zona is a compelling thriller that shows how a community decides to deliver their own justice.

· Finally, on the 12th and 13th (Saturday and Sunday) the Society and some of its members are participating in the 1st International Languages Festival! This is the first of its kind to be happening in the UK. Over the course of two days 150 different languages and dialects across the globe will be taught!

Tickets are available at the Students’ Union box office for £2. Your ticket will allow you to attend as many classes as you want on the day! Remember that classes start at 10am and finish at 8pm.

For more information go to www.intlangfest.union.shef.ac.uk

Hope to see you all!
Sincerely,
Committee 2010-2011
